Obama's War on Fox Is Liberalism's War on Dissent

News Type: Opinion — Seeded on Wed Oct 28, 2009 10:22 AM EDT

But Obama's war against the network is about much more than Fox News. It is about his and his fellow liberals' intolerance of political dissent and their war on political criticism from any corner. Unless you shower Obama with adulation 24/7, you are ripe for targeting.
He and his minions will abuse the power and prestige of the office of the presidency to "call you out." They have personally called out Rush Limbaugh and other media critics. They've targeted conservative talk radio for neutering, having assigned a Federal Communications Commission diversity czar that very task.
Unless you refrain from asking even marginally difficult questions of the administration, you not only are boycotted from access to interviews but demonized to boot. This way, Obama scores a twofer: He avoids almost all scrutiny from the mainstream media, scrutiny that even the Founders said is necessary to good government, and he discredits his political critics in the process.
What should alarm all First Amendment proponents is that so many liberals don't really champion the free and open expression of ideas; they support only the advancement of liberal policies, even if that means one-sided dominance to the point of indoctrination in our public schools and universities and in the media.

If you believe expecting accuracy in reporting is a war on dissent, I pity you.

I would hate to see your definition of "truth".

Do not let the republican elite and their media arm, Fox channel henchman lead the extremist conservatives.

Follow the yellow brick road, "if I only had a brain".

Why don't the mainstream republicans realize this?

Why are the liberals so scared of Fox? Or someone option? Sounds like you are worried that your forced agenda is falling apart.

Why are the liberals so scared of Fox?

An unsupported, generalized statement of no value. It is not about fear...but truth. If you let a lie stand unopposed then it is viewed as truth.

Something Fox is not interested in even as a news organization...Truth.

So truth is only flowing from the ones who agree with Obama? Really! And fox isn't a News company because they don't agree with Obama? And if you are not scared of Fox and the number of people that lessen to them than why even worry about them?

Obama and his supporters attacks on Fox, only proves that they want to only see news that portrays obama in a good light. Hence the obama supporters support of censorship of anything critical of obama and his czars and supporters.

So the White House verbally chastises Fox for lying and this author is defending the right to lie and calling it a war?

Really, save the word "war" for something relevant.

And, this idea seems to be making the rounds (seeded yesterday)

In all honesty what the WH has done is much more than "chastising" and you should know it.

Throw the word "war" casually, and you cheapen the meaning.

Here's Anita Dunn:

"What I think is fair to say about Fox -- and certainly it's the way we view it -- is that it really is more a wing of the Republican Party," said Anita Dunn, White House communications director, on CNN. "They take their talking points, put them on the air; take their opposition research, put them on the air. And that's fine. But let's not pretend they're a news network the way CNN is."

White House Escalates War of Words With Fox News

If you click on that, you'll notice it comes straight from Fox. "War of Words" has a completely different connotation than "war". But, newsmax lacks that keen insight.

Obama has excluded Fox from interviews, the reason why above.

If you guys want to support a network with a video record of lies, fabrications, & misdirections, feel free. But don't whine about "war" when it's not anywhere close to it.

And, to pre-empt, getting something wrong and apologizing/retracting is something responsible new organizations do. Everyone understands when mistakes are made.

Interesting that you would want to apply this to only one news network. Fox has had bad stories but so has ABC,CBS,NBC,CNN and pretty much any other network you can care to name. I don't put much faith in any television news show, but at least what I have seen in the major news stories broken by them Fox appears to be the only network truly reporting now and not being administration cheerleaders. Newspapers are becoming ever more critical of this administration and with good reasons. Television news has some catching up to do.

Stop lying. Fox News has been denied access to all Obama administration's spokespersons (including Obama himself recently.) the notable exception being the recent interview with Treasury pay czar, apparently due to rules that apply to the WH pool.

this is the gop at work. they spread fear and deciet to the less fortunate in hope of winning them over and vote for them. it is sad that they have had to lie and cheat to get where they are. this is a way of life for them. this is why they lie about the president. they can not wi n on their merrit. they are all above the law. we would be in prison for the rest of our lives if we do some of the things that they have done in the name of security. they complain about leaders of other countries but just a good look at what the leaders of this country has done. the good ole usa is the only country to drop a necuelar bome on another country and look at what is being done with the health issue. the people that are complainint the most already have insurance.

I will give a life saving suggestion...Don't jump off the cliff just because they tell you to....!Let the other sheep do it.
